Rapidshare: Important changes for Uploaders

On November 10th, we (rapidshare.com) will launch our storage revision program.

Accounts that use more than 20 GB of storage will be marked as "XXL" accounts by our system.
If any files associated with an "XXL" account have not been downloaded within the last 90 days ("inactive files"), those files will be deleted automatically.
As soon as the account's storage is less than 20 GB, no further files will be deleted.
Of course, no active files (i.e. files that have been downloaded at least once during the last 90 days) will be deleted. This means, we still offer unlimited storage for active files.
Your account's current storage utilization is over 20 GB, which means your account will be marked as "XXL".
Please check your account for files that you no longer need and remove them.
This helps to avoid the deletion of files you would like to keep.

You can check your current storage utilization at any time in the premium zone, right above the files list.

How to Get 1-month Rapidshare's premium-account?

To get 1-month RS's premium-account you must collect 10000 points. You will get one point per download if the downloader is a free-user AND your file is bigger than 1 MB AND the downloader has generated less than 5 points in the last hour.
Registration. For get free collector's account upload any file from Rapidshare's homepage. After the upload you will be asked automatically if you want to have a free Collector's Account. After registration you can see you Collector's Zone. If you collect 10000 points then you can exchage this on Premium-account (Click "Convert points" button in your Collector's Zone).

Some of previously undescribed about Earn-program of Depositfiles

1. Only the files meeting the below requirements will be considered as paid:
- files bigger then 1 Mb;
- file downloads from Russia and USA (for new members; for other see previous publication);
- files which links were placed on web pages (only web pages) To be able to earn money for downloads Bonus Program participants must not place the links in icq or email. Make your links clickable!

2. While registration in Bonus Program you obtain $5 as welcome bonus, though to withdraw this money you need to reach the amount of $40.

3. DF count only unique IP addresses within 24 hours. That is if one person with one and the same IP address downloaded 10 of your files, your statistics in Bonus Program will show only 1 download from this user.
What’s unique download? It’s downloading of your file from one IP address. Which means that one person can download let’s say 10 files from your account but it will be counted as 1 unique download. To get 10 downloads into your account, your file need to be downloaded by 10 people.
Note: such restriction is created to protect the system from fake multiple downloads by one and the same user).

4. You can get the Gold-Account for free! To get our Gold-Account for a month you need to reach 5000 unique downloads of your files. If you collect 10000 unique downloads of your files, DF give you Gold-Account for 6 months.

Some useful features of Rapidshare

Many do not use all features of share-services. So I want to tell you about some features of Rapidshare.
1. Check RapidShare-URLs for availability
You can add a list of RapidShare-URLs of your choice and we will check if all files exist on our servers. If the file does not exist, the link will be shown in red. If the file exists but the server is down, the file will be shown in yellow. If all is ok, the link will be shown in green.
- Go to check page
- Enter one URL per line. Example: http://rapidshare.com/files/72635215/filename.zip
- Click "Check URLs"
- Enjoy! :)

2. Remote-uploads (only for Premium-users)
- Go to your premium-zone
- Click "Remote-Uploads" button
- Enter one URL per line. Just enter one link (http://.... or ftp://....) per line and we will upload that file(s) for you to RapidShare. The RapidShare-link(s) will automatically appear in your premium-zone. You can use http:// and ftp://. Make sure the file is not bigger than 105.000.000 bytes (100 MB), or the process will abort. More infos in our FAQ. If you click on the upload-button without giving an URL, the page will be refreshed without doing anything else. This way you can track your remote-uploads in real-time! You can enter one URL per line. Don't forget that all transfers start at once! If you enter 100 URLs, which are all located on the same server, some downloads will probably fail.
- Click "Start Remote-upload" button
- Wait... and enjoy! :)
P.S. After uploads you must delete uploaded links. Max quantity of links is 100. If you remote-upload many files then it is a problem. Not exist "Check all" button. :(

Rapidshare.com: Free download for all!

(!) This feature can take on only premium users for own files.
If you wish to provide some of your files in such way that other users can download them immediately and without limitations, you can mark those files as direct downloads. The traffic caused by downloads of those files will be subtracted from your direct download credits. (Important: This is not the same as your own download traffic you use for downloading other users' files.) You can purchase additional direct download traffic at any time using the buttons on this page.

Especially for bigger companies, RapidShare offers a file sharing cluster solution. Your files will be saved on many servers at the same time and your users will be leaded to a random server automatically. This clustering makes it possible to handle a high amount of traffic concurrently, for example on events or important software updates, where a concurrent bandwidth usage of more than 500 MBits is required.
You have 10.00 GB of direct download traffic left. Each newly created premium account gets 10 GB of free traffic to check out this service for free.
In order to change files to direct download files, mark the respective files with the checkboxes you can find before every file link in the file list. Then click the button below the file list to convert the files to direct download links type (1). Direct download files will be labeled in the file list so you know which files are direct download files and which are not. In case your free direct download traffic is all used up, the direct download files will automatically being handled like normal RapidShare links.

Secured links for professionals

In case you want to control who uses your direct download links for how long, you can generate secured download links. You can convert your files to three types. Type (0) is a normal RapidShare download link, type (1) is the unsecured direct download link, which can be used by everyone who knows the link until you delete the file or change the file to type (0) again. Type (2) is the protected link. To use this feature, you need webspace capable of running PHP or Perl. With this program you will generate protected links, which are only valid as long as you want. Now a little Perl example script:

Attention: This method must not be used in JavaScript (for example). We generate a MD5-hash based on some secret values including a time stamp. Since a hacker does not know the secret data, he can not create "hacked" download links, which are valid for 3 years for example. The main secret is the killcode of your file, but also the premium login should not be published. In case you need help implementing the method, you can contact our support.

MS Launches SkyDrive File Sharing Service (Beta)

News from PAL Graphics Area's friends: Opened the free cross-platform service eases the process of sharing files.
While email and traditional FTP servers remain a popular way to exchange files, a wide range of Web-based services have arisen in recent years to simplify the process of exchanging files. To that end SkyDrive breaks no new ground, but is simply another example of Microsoft's relentless extension of the services it provides under its Live brand. Originally made available earlier this summer in a beta version called Windows Live Folders, SkyDrive remains in beta but has added functionality and extended its initial availability in the United States to India and the United Kingdom.
The service provides Mac or Windows users with 500 MB of free storage, with the ability to create folders and specify who has access to them via password protection. Each folder and file is given a specific URL, making it easy to invite others to view or add files, although a requirement for access is a Windows Live ID and password. New in the current version is the creation of thumbnails for images, drag and drop support for uploading, and the ability to embed stored files and folders in any Web page.
